The sharpest literature festival in India
If December in Chennai is known for its season of music and dance, January is the month to celebrate literature and books with The Hindu Lit for Life. It began in 2010 to commemorate the 20th year of the Literary Review and is now held over three days. Both participants and audiences look forward to its spirited and free-ranging discussions on themes as varied as fiction (literary and popular), food and fitness, travel, sports, filmmaking, politics, Dalit writing, music, photography, war, religious tolerance, and conservation. Speakers include authors, artists, actors, activists, chefs, filmmakers, politicians, theatrepersons among others. The festival also hosts workshops on topics that range from translations and writing through art and film appreciation to music and dance. Having held its own among the burgeoning literary festivals in the country, The Hindu Lit for Life has come to stand for a rich and wide-ranging literary experience.
