It’s how you evoke a vivid sense of place and the social milieu of your characters; it’s knowing when you’ve done enough research, where to add colour and tricks to conjure up the senses. Writing your reality: Finding Yourself in Fiction – Paro Anand

What is reality fiction? Well-known author Paro Anand will give an introduction with examples from her works. This interactive workshop offers participants getting-started exercises to help put down on paper the thoughts that whizz around their head, develop characters, get on with one story inspired from the previous exercises; critically analyse all the stories; select three best stories for an online master class; and take the selected stories to completion. Note: Teachers are welcome to register but only as participants. NO OBSERVERS.

A Walking Shoot: A Mobile Photography Workshop – Dinesh Khanna

Chase Jarvis, who was probably the first to publish a book with mobile phone photographs, once said, "The best camera is the one with you".  Come to think of it, isn't that true for everyone today? The one device we all have with us constantly is the mobile phone. And every self-respecting mobile has a camera. Once you are aware of this 'visual' device in your grasp, you can open your eyes to all the interesting things around you and capture the moments in a creative manner. In this two-hour session, well-known photographer Dinesh Khanna will open your minds and eyes to the wonders around you and how you can shoot some really interesting frames with your phone. He will give tips on how to enhance the images with some excellent apps that make photos look really striking and make them stand apart from the torrent of visuals on social media.

Through this workshop, you will learn to appreciate stories better and will also be able to detail out your creative thoughts. At the end of the workshop, you will take home a book that was created entirely by you!
